Residents of Nandi County, Kenya are still finding it hard to come to terms with an incident whereby a police officer raped a female prisoner at Kaimosi Police station on Sunday evening before fleeing.

According to the police reports, the victim had been arrested on July 14th over child stealing and was detained as she waited to be arraigned in court on Monday.

According to the victim, she informed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) that constable Samuel Wanyonyi, the police officer, told her that she had been called by the police boss. She left the other three prisoners in the cell who were with her and followed the officer who forced her into a room next to the reporting office in the police station.

The officer then ordered the victim to remove her clothes and threatened to kill her if she dared to resist. Having no option, the victim cooperated letting the officer to commit the heinous act on her.

The prisoner was rushed to the hospital for medical examination which confirmed that the awful incident had been done to her. The police have since launched a manhunt for Samuel who is still at large.
