Dust is yet settled over the unanimous decision of the adopted chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, over his unpopular pronouncement announcing the incumbent senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, as the consensus candidate of the party in the ongoing APC convention in Abuja, as Governor Akeredolu and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum described Adamu as an expensive joker who is not competent to hold the strategic seat of APC national chairman.
Abdullahi Adamu, who himself was surprisingly enforced on the party as the APC chairman at the makes believe party convention recently in Abuja, which equally ran contrary to the popular interests in the party, had on Monday made a shocking pronouncement declaring Senator Lawan, who is another Fulani man from the North as his candidate of choice to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
This pronouncement did not go down well with the decision of the APC party stalwarts.
RegentAfrica Times gathered that not a few among the APC northern governors, including President Buhari was shocked to the marrow over the controversial outburst of the new APC Chairman.
However, the Chairman of the Southern Governor’s Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, in a press statement on Monday, says Abdullahi Adamu’s outburst is a flight of fancy beyond his competence. He noted that the southern governors position on the south to produce the next president remains unchanged.
