The Sarkin Wushishi, Alh. Shehu Ibrahim has conferred the title of “Lafiyan Talakawa Wushishi ” on the Commissioner of Health , Dr Muhammad Makusidi for his numerous achievements and contribution to the people particularly in the provision of Healthcare services.

Dr Muhammad Makusidi received the honour at the flag-off of ceremony of the Makusidi care and enrollment of one hundred and twelve beneficiaries from eleven wards under Wushishi Local Government Area into Niger State contributory Health scheme (Nicare) and Free Medical outreach by Nigerian Medical Association NMA.

Alh Shehu Ibrahim who expressed his joy over the development, thanked the Governor for appointing Dr Makusidi as Commissioner for Health , adding that the gesture has brought succour to the area and thereby urging the people to take advantage of the scheme.

In his address, the Commissioner, Dr Makusidi said the aim of setting up Makusidi Global Foundation MGF was in memory of his late father, and is targeted towards contributing to the well being of people by taking advantage of Niger State Contributory Health Scheme (Nicare) which was established by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to provide supportive access to qualitative healthcare services to the vulnerable in his constituency.

He said this determination is borne out of the fact that the vulnerable in the rural areas are finding it difficult to pay for medical bills as an out of pocket expenditure exposing them to catastrophic financial hardship preventing them from seeking medical attention, hence the need to support people through this foundation.

Dr Muhammad Makusidi further explained that the foundation is in collaboration with Nicare which operates on the principles of providing quality healthcare services by pooling resources for equitable distribution of healthcare costs.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Joseph Kolo
James appreciated the community for honouring the Commissioner pointing out that it show how supportive he has been to his people.

Dr Kolo James then urging them to take care of the primary Healthcare facility in Makusidi and to take advantage of the scheme for a healthier society.
Earlier, the chairman of Nigerian Medical Association NMA Minna branch,

Dr Usman Abubakar Bosso, said the free medical outreach was in commemoration of the Associations’ Physicians week conducted annually where communities in dire need of medical attention are treated for various ailments free of charge and this year selected location is Makusidi.
