My Dear Delegates,
TOO MANY OPTIONS BEFORE THE DELEGATES: CHOOSE WISELY
I write here today, humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust bestowed upon you by our great party as delegates, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank the party state chairman and every stakeholder for their selfless service to our party and Ondo State at large, as well as, the generosity and cooperation they have shown throughout this crucial moment in Ondo State.
Without a doubt, playing political games can be fun, especially If you get good at it. And herein lies the very reason for you to choose your aspirants wisely. Ask yourself, “Who should I come down to his side among these many aspirants before me?”
“What great charisma does my favourite aspirant possess which makes him your most preferable aspirant?”
Aren’t they usually the aspirants that you enjoy because of personal financial and political gains?
May I remind you that your decisions on the choice of candidate of our noble party, Peoples Democratic Party would definitely determine the fate of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, come October. As a matter of fact, human beings are remembered for two things;
— The problems created by them,
— And the lasting workable solutions they proffered.
Rather than playing a game on the ground of personal aggrandizement and financial gains, have the strength to make your own informed choice. Yes, informed choice! Our dear party deserves a candidate who does not only have a passion to be a winner. But also, to develop the full potentials of every member of the party, both at the local and state levels.
I have listened and read the manifestoes of too many aspirants of our party many times. They are very entertaining speakers who can leave an audience howling with hope, inspiration and a sense of dignity.
However, too many of them fail to make serious point about ethics, personal discipline, respect for human and peoples right whenever and wherever they communicate.
In truth, this has been the chief reason why several governments cum leaders have failed us in this state, as such is evident in the current administration.
On this day, I come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our best aspirant as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
In reaffirming the greatness of our party, the greatest aspirant must be picked as our candidate. We understand that greatness is never given. It must be earned. Our party has never been one of ‘shortcuts” or settling for less. It has not been a party for the fainthearted —for those who prefer leisure over work, seek only the pleasure of riches and fame.
Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things, the movers and shakers of society.
Consequently, I present to you CHIEF OLUSOLA NEHEMIAH EBISENI (ONE), a vastly experienced and radical politician who is one of the options before you.
So far, he remains the only aspirant who in his manifesto, makes point about ethics, personal discipline, respect for human and peoples right whenever and wherever he communicates. And these are the fundamental ‘terrains’ for liberal democracy to thrive. He is neither a descendant of Adamawa nor Bourdillon’s loyal Boy.
But, one of us who knows us one by one, and on several occasions identified with us. He has been consistently active in the politics of the state for more than three decades, as well as, learnt at the feet of giants. We cannot but settle for this best brain. The man whose weight of experience our party and the good people of the state need for a modern Ondo State of our imagination.
I sincerely urge you to resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.
This is the price and the sacrifice you can make as party loyalists. I can assure you that, CHIEF OLUSOLA NEHEMIAH EBISENI’s candidacy would be marketable, as everyone in the state craves for him as Governor, for a better Ondo State.
Lastly, let it be told to the future Ondo state that, in the ‘depth of winter and heart of dilemma’ in our great party, you took a germane decision by voting for CHIEF OLUSOLA NEHEMIAH EBISENI (ONE) as the party candidate for gubernatorial election, as well as Governor, which perfectly proferred lasting workable solution. Thus, given our party edge over other political parties in the state.
Thank you very kindly. God bless you. And God bless Ondo State!
