The People Living With Disabilities, PLWDs, have lauded President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for the passing of the Disability Bill into law.
According to the National President, PLWDs, Abdullahi Aliyu Usman, the FG also appreciated for the establishment of National Commission for People Living With Disability.
Aliyu gave the commendation in Abuja, Monday, while briefing the media on the Constitution amendment of the group.
The National President of PLWD said with 31.5 people living with disabilities in Nigeria, the need for the constitutional review couldn’t have come at a better time.
“Times are changing, and we can’t remain stagnant. We need to restructure the Constitution guiding the activities of PLWDs. Hence, the need for the upgrading of the Constitution.”
He called for collaboration and synergy with the general public in making sure that PLWDs are given their rightful places in the country.
Speaking on the need for encouraging women living with disabilities, leader of the women group, PLWDs, Hajia Rabi Yusuf enjoined kind hearted Nigerians to help the womenfolk realise their various dreams.
In his contribution, President, National Association of the Blind, Ishiaku Adamu, called for proper engagement of the PLWDs in the fight against Covid 19.
